A Night of Fashion and Icons at The Garden Theater.
On Sunday February 4, 2024 the city of Detroit honored some of its icons in the fashion industry with class and elegance as the Detroit Fashion Choice Awards returned to the historic Garden Theater on Woodward Ave for a night of celebration and a kick start to Black History Month.
On the same night as the 66th Grammy Awards, the Detroit Fashion Choice Awards brought out a red carpet of their own as they recognized the trailblazers and innovators past, present, and future for their remarkable contribution and impact in the world of fashion.
The evening was hosted by Fox 2 News Anchor and Reporter Liz Lewin and Comedian Josiah Jones as the two brought their charming, refreshing personalities on and off the stage. Testing the audience knowledge with some Detroit fashion trivia. And a evening full of laughter and smiles as the event makes to be a memorable, historic night in fashion.
As guest entered the auditorium, they were greeted by the R&B sounds of Elevate Musiq Group. Who provided the evening with some of our favorite tunes, rocking the Garden Theatre with their infectious, harmonious sound. “I believe we provide an live concert experience. We like people to feel like they’re at a show even if the venue we’re playing at has free admission we like you to feel like you got your moneys worth and then some when you finish listening to us.” says drummer Zebulun Horton II. You can catch Elevate Musiq Group each and every Friday for Elevate Fridays at Ford Patio Bar & Grill (18490 Ford Rd. Detroit, MI 48228) from 8pm -10pm for a live R&B experience.
DFCA bestowed the illustrious trailblazers of Detroit with Vanguard Honors, for their dedicated, indelible impact on the fashion culture. Honorees including Chuck Bennett “The Style Guru” with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. D’Wayne Edwards, President of PLC in Detroit, MI with the Humanitarian of The Year Award.
